Junior engineer
Location: The Netherlands | Employment: Part/Full-time | Level: Graduate/Junior
About us
2Sea is a young, ambitious organisation specialising in the engineering of transport and installation operations for offshore wind turbines besides other offshore and maritime related projects. Our team is small, tight-knit and driven — everyone contributes to the bigger picture. Here you are not a number, but a voice. You will work closely alongside experienced colleagues and quickly take on real responsibility. We believe in people who are curious, persistent and genuinely enjoy what they do.
The role
As a Junior Engineer you will be part of our engineering team and contribute to the execution of complex offshore wind projects. Your work will focus on the structural design of installation aids and temporary structures, tackling challenges at the intersection of structural engineering, vessel motions and stability.
No two days are the same. One day you may be working through a structural load calculation; the next you are analysing the motion characteristics of an installation vessel or discussing operability with a client. Because we are a small organisation, you will quickly build a broad understanding of the entire field.
What you will do
– Perform structural design calculations for transport frames, seafastenings and (temporary) structures as well as lifting operations
– Analyse vessel motions and translate these into structural loads
– Prepare and review technical documentation and engineering reports
– Contribute to stability and hydrostatic calculations in the context of marine operations
– Support the preparation and execution of offshore installation methods
– Collaborate with colleagues, clients and Marine Warranty Surveyors and/or Classification societies
– Actively contribute to process improvement and innovation within our field
What we are looking for
Education
– BSc or MSc degree in Maritime Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a comparable technical discipline
Knowledge & Skills
– Foundational knowledge of structural mechanics / strength of materials
– Affinity with naval architecture, offshore or maritime engineering
– Strong analytical mindset with the ability to structure complex technical problems
– Good communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus
Personal
– Flexible and broadly deployable — you enjoy diving into a wide variety of topics
– Proactive and self-starting, yet a genuine team player
– Driven to keep learning and developing yourself
– You thrive on the combination of theory and hands-on practice
What we offer
– A varied role in a growing and challenging industry
– An informal working environment where your input genuinely matters
– A central located office next to Rotterdam CS
– Direct involvement in real projects from day one — no coffee runs, straight into the work
– Room for personal development and career growth
– Mentoring by experienced colleagues who know the field inside out
– A competitive salary in line with your education and experience
